Best of Awards - Rules
General requirements and date information for entry:
- All entries in this year's Idaho Press Club Awards Contest- except broadcast General Excellence--must have been broadcast, telecast or published in Idaho during the 2011 calendar year.
- This year's deadline is January 20, 2012; all entries must be postmarked no later than that date.
- General excellence dates will be announced on January 13, 2012. You may call (208) 389-2879 on that date or check our website at www.idahopressclub.org.
- Payment and a master list must be included for all entries: $14 per entry for Idaho Press Club members ($8 for student members) $27 per entry for non-members ($16 for non-member students) A $1 fee will be added to each entry if you choose to pay online to cover PayPal costs.
- All individuals whose names appear on an entry must be members of the Idaho Press Club in order for that entry to qualify for the membership discount. You may join or renew your IPC membership at the time of entry by sending a separate check of $25 per regular membership ($10 student/retired) and pertinent mailing / phone information. Membership can also be submitted online via PayPal; see Join link If you are unsure about your membership status, call or email the IPC office to verify.
- Individuals from out-of-state organizations entering this contest must show they worked full-time in an Idaho bureau or division.
- All entries become property of the Idaho Press Club. Winning entries may be displayed.
- Each story or photo may be entered in only one category. Exceptions: Television Writing and Videography entries may also be entered in one other TV category; and stories may be entered in an individual category, such as general news story or live feature report, and also be part of an entry in the Reporter of the Year or Rookie of the Year category or All Media categories.
- Award winners will be announced at the Annual Awards Banquet on April 28, 2012 in Boise at the Boise Centre.
Format requirements for entry:
- Only one copy of each entry is required in all categories unless otherwise stated.
- Each entry must have a completed copy of the IPC entry form securely attached for ease of identification and judging.
- One master list of all entries must be completed and included with submitted entries, even when only submitting a single entry. Only one copy of a complete and legible master list is required.
- For neatness, but not required, consider submitting each entry secured in a file folder to hold the entry and other required documentation.
- Entries in CD boxes or folders must have identification labels attached to the entry itself, in addition to the IPC entry form.
- VERY IMPORTANT List names of all participants on each entry form (i.e., reporter, photographer) as appropriate. Please check your spelling; it will be used for the award.
- All entries must be folded or copied to no larger than 16"x 20." Please mount or copy small clippings on a sheet at least 8" by 11" or secured in a folder.
- Photo entries must be submitted on CD.
- Please organize and band multiple entries together by category.
- Video entries should be dubbed onto a DVD, with only one category per DVD, also multiple entries in one category from one station may be copied onto a single DVD. Entries must be submitted as prepared for broadcast and may not be altered after the fact.
- Radio entries must be on audio CD-- again, only one category per CD, and multiple entries in one category from one station may be copied onto a single CD
- Online Division entries should include URL - (Web address) of the site on the entry form, Entrant is responsible to provide a URL that is live and correct. If judges are unable to find the entry on the URL provided, the entry will be rejected and the entry fee will not be refunded.
- Entrant is responsible to make sure that CD or DVD entries can be opened, viewed and/or heard properly.
