Audrey Dutton

Audrey is a reporter on the Idaho Statesman’s watchdog team and is president of the Press Club’s Southwest Chapter.

Audrey is originally from Twin Falls. She went to college in St. Paul, Minnesota, then took a job at a mental health clinic specializing in issues related to sex. The people she met there inspired her first big story — a feature on the Twin Cities transgender community — and she realized she wanted to do journalism forever. She got a master’s degree from Columbia University’s journalism school and moved to Washington, D.C., where she covered government, local news, municipal finance and transportation policy. She also wrote for alt-weeklies and magazines on everything from unsolved murders in New York to bed bugs in D.C. to sick nuclear workers in Idaho Falls.

Audrey returned to Idaho in 2011 to work for the Statesman. She and her husband, Josh, live in west downtown Boise. One of their favorite extracurricular activities is fixing up their turn-of-the-century house.
