Legislative Headliners
It's been an eventful session so far, and it's only February. On top of bills to ban texting while driving or tanning while under 18, the Legislature has looked at landowner hunting tags and a bill opening the door to Internet sales tax. Oh, and the Senate Majority lost its caucus chairman to sexual harassment allegations.
To hear what House and Senate leaders think of all this, and what's to come, the Southwest Chapter of the Idaho Press Club is hosting its annual on-the-record Legislative Headliners lunch March 6.
Here are the details:
- What: Legislative Headliners Lunch
- Who: Senate President Pro Tem Brent Hill and House Speaker Lawerence Denney
- When: Tuesday, March 6. Registration and lunch at 11:45 a.m.; speakers begin promptly at noon.
- Where: Beside Bardenay, 612 W. Grove St.
- Cost: $10 for Idaho Press Club Members and students; $15 for non-members. Includes lunch: chipotle chicken sandwich with salad and drink.
- RSVP: You can book your seat and pay in advance at the Idaho Press Club website http://idahopressclub.org and its PayPal option. Please pay in advance, as it helps us get an accurate head count for lunch.

About the lunch speakers:
Senate President Pro Tem Brent Hill has served in the Senate since 2001 and is a member of the State Affairs and Local Government and Taxation committees. Sen. Hill is a CPA and certified financial planner.
House Speaker Lawerence Denney was elected in 1990, after being a farmer, EMT and volunteer fireman and a basketball and track coach.
